What is a CRA?

A Community Redevelopment Area (CRA), under Florida Law (Chapter 163, Part III), is defined as an area that local governments are able to identify and designate as a Community Redevelopment Area when certain conditions exist. CRAs are funded by any future increases in property values which are then set aside to support specific economic development projects within that area.

The City of St. Augustine has designated three (3) areas as CRAs;

  • Historic Area Community Redevelopment Area (HACRA) established in 2000
  • Lincolnville Community Redevelopment Area (LCRA) established in 2013
  • West City Community Redevelopment Area (WCCRA) newly established in 2024
